There's no doubt that finding each other back when we formed was a major stroke of luck, and we've always been thankful for that. However where we stand now is a culmination of combined effort and persistence. It took some time to find the perfect lineup, craft the perfect team and really discover the music that we wanted to make. Now it feels real, and we're all on board for the ride. The Commoners are a no-nonsense Canadian roots-rock band from Toronto, Hamilton, and St. Thomas Ontario. They wear their musical influences on their sleeves, with a hard-hitting sound akin to rock icons Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes and The Allman Brothers Band, while also drawing inspiration from Motown/Soul legends Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Lake Street Dive. This Rock/Soul direction gave them the leeway they needed to find their sound, and pave their own name in the history book of rock and roll. With two studio releases under their belt, The Commoners are now focussing efforts on their biggest release yet: a new full length record featuring 11 songs cultivated over the last several years. Highway Lines, a Factor-Funded project features guest appearances from Jesse Karwat, Jeff Heisholt, Samantha Martin & The Delta Sugar and Renan Yildizdogan, and is supported by their label, Gypsy Soul Records. 2020 is a big question mark. Like most of the world we've found ourselves looking inward and deeply considering ways we can help make the world a better place. One of the major themes of this record is standing up for yourself, finding your voice and speaking your truth. We implore our audience to never stop searching. Together we can find a better way." |
