Official
announcement by SPV Records:
Dave Wyndorf and Co. have officially entered the recording phase
for the follow-up to 2004’s “Monolithic Baby”. The new album
(title tba) will be released in March 2006 and will coincide with
their European Tour (see Tour section on this
site).
|
|
|
Monster Magnet’s new album is being produced
by friend and veteran Magnet producer/mixer Matt Hyde (“Powertrip”
and “God Says No”). The band is currently in Los Angeles, laying
down the new tracks at both Sound City and Paramount recording studios
for what promises to be another rock milestone for the quartet.
With excitement building around the new studio album, the news that
re-releases of their classic albums “”Tab” and “Spine of God”
will be coming as well have excited many longtime fans of the band.
These re-issues will feature new artwork and liner notes, as well as
bonus tracks, as part of SPV’s SuPerValue re-issue series and will
again be available worldwide. A DVD is also in planning for late 2006. |

I'm
announcing with deep regret that Phil
Caivano,
guitarist, singer and my long time friend has decided to "move
on" from Monster
Magnet.
Phil joined the band in 1998 and has been a solid contributor
since day one. No one I know has ever been more dedicated to his
craft. He is a unique and talented individual who excels at
everything he does and I wish him all the best.
Phil himself will
let you know what he's doing in his own good time, but for the
record, this is an amicable split.
|
|
 |
|
|
Needless
to say, there is only one Phil
Caivano so replacing
him is impossible. However Magnet is auditioning guitarists to fill the
rhythm slot and I'll let you all know what's up. In the meantime,I'll be
playing guitar.This
change in line up will in no way effect the output of Monster
Magnet, as I am writing
the new album now and things are on schedule.
Phil
is and will always be welcome as a member of the Monster
Magnet family.
Rock
is alive! Love, Dave. |

Official
announcement by SPV USA : |
 |

|
 |
Monster Magnet teams with
SPV USA for American release of ‘Monolithic
Baby!’ / New Album To Be Unleashed on May
25 !
Rock is not dead ! SPV USA is proud to announce the
May 25th release of Monster
Magnet’s mammoth new offering ‘Monolithic
Baby!’
The album marks a triumphant return for Monster Magnet and delivers every bit of the sonic excess, formidable swagger and explosively brilliant songwriting that the world has come to expect from these New Jersey natives. |
|

|
|
After liberating themselves from their major label contract following the 2001 release of ‘God Says No’, the feeling of freedom and optimism within the band is palpable. “At last we’ve signed with a label again where it’s the music that matters rather than all sorts of marketing strategies,” says front man Dave Wyndorf. “That’s very inspiring for us as musicians, and doubtlessly it will also be to our fans’ benefit.”
The US version of ‘MONOLITHIC BABY!’ will feature two exclusive bonus tracks: “King Of Mars 2004“ (an updated version of a MONSTER MAGNET classic found on their 1995 breakthrough album ‘Dopes To Infinity’) and “Venus In Furs” (a cover version of the Velvet Underground hit). A special limited edition will feature a bonus DVD containing music videos for “Unbroken (Hotel Baby)” and “The Right Stuff” along with an exclusive band interview and two “bootleg” videos from their sold-out London performance this past December.
MONSTER MAGNET is currently blazing across Europe on a sold-out tour with new label mates Gluecifer and The Quill. North American touring plans will be unveiled soon. |

To all our friends in
Madrid :
It is with great disappointment and regret that we must cancel our concert in Madrid.
It has been a long tour and sometimes after weeks and weeks of singing, my throat is so sore and worn out
that it is impossible to do the kind of show that is worthy of your respect. We take great pride in
giving our friends the best concerts possible and I’m sure you want the best we can offer.
Unfortunately the show in Madrid had to be sacrificed in order for the rest of the tour to continue, other shows in other countries were sacrificed as well.
I can only offer you my deepest apology and hope to make it up to you in the future, viva Madrid, viva Spain.
Love Dave Wyndorf, and Monster Magnet.
PS : On a more serious note, Monster Magnet offers our heartfelt condolence in the wake of your recent tragedy’s. You may or may not know that we live very close to New York City and are no strangers to the effects of terrorism.
Much love and respect to all of Spain.
Excelsior ! Dave
Wyndorf. |

We
are are very sorry but we have to cancel the upcoming gig at the
Arenan /

order to prevent worse. Monster Magnet would like to
apologize to the fans
who were planning to come see us in both Trevisto (Italy) and Madrid
(Spain). We
hate to disappoint our fans but we have no choice, it's either this or
risking Dave to blow his voice for the rest of the tour. We hope you
understand and we'll do everything within' our powers to make it up to you
guys ...
Thanks, Monster Magnet & Crew |

"Monolithic
Baby!" was
born from the irony and absurdity of life in the
ongoing and truly hypnotic 21st century! A combination of
social commentary, ego stroking, paranoia and glee! This is Monster
Magnet right now! Not yesterday, not tomorrow, right now! Sex and
war! Disinformation! Terror! Narcissism! Denial! Drugs! Awwww I
could go on AND ON! But
I won't. Let me just say that "Monolithic Baby" I hope
professes a determination to rise above
a paralysed pop culture which offers little more than superficial,
knee jerk stroking or vague , incomplete concepts that pose as art!
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
But shucks, don't let my ramblings confuse you. Don't let my
hyperbolic bulljive cloud the main mission of this music: Rock and
Roll! Of and for the
moment! "Monolithic Baby!" doesn't preach, it celebrates!
Life is too short for anything
less! Bring on the future! Bring it on with force, humour and
dedication to the rock!
Thank
you and good day ... Dave

On september 15th
2003 A&M Records will release the Monster Magnet
Greatest Hits double CD album. Whilst the first CD contains the obvious collection of singles and a random
series of tracks picked by our old label the
second CD contains a couple of hard to find b-sides
and a selection of video clips. All
in all a good closing of almost a decade at A&M records. Check out the
Discography

There's a big chance Monster Magnet
will be added to the bill of the Fields Of Rock
festival on June 15th 2003 @ Nijmegen / The Netherlands! The
festival announced as "A Heavy Day in the Park" filled
the gap left by the once again cancelled Dynamo Open Air

Monster Magnet
welcomes aboard new bass player
Jim Baglino! The NJ based
musician and long time friend of the band, toured Europe
with the Magnet as a roadie during the God Says No tour.
Jim Baglino, also known as the four stringer for NJ
SpaceRockers Lord
Sterling has been recruited to replace former Magnet
bassist Joe Calandra. Auditions for the vacant drum stool
are happening as we speak ... current runner up seems to
be ex-Chrome Locust

Monster Magnet
have signed a European deal with German label SPV
/ Steamhammer earlier this week. The band parted ways
with the A&M label in 2001 after the release of God
Says No. The Hannover based label is thrilled that one of
the most influential rock bands on the planet has chosen
to call Steamhammer/SPV their new home. By joining SPV
records Monster Magnet find themselves amongst great
labelmates such as Motörhead / Fu Manchu / Life Of Agony
/ Rollins Band / Biohazard / Rose Tattoo / Firebird ...
and many more. An extensive interview with main Magnet
Dave Wyndorf will appeare on this site very soon, RockOn ! |
